How To Love Your Job

Many people I know hate their job, and yet they stick to the daily grind. These days, though many are glad to even have a job. If you have to spend 8 hours a day at work, you might as well be doing something you like. I believe people need to find meaning in their life, people need to know that what they do matters. Of course, we have all been in situations where what is happening in the company doesn't make sense. But what if I can show you how to love your job again?

I get bored with work too, whenever I have to do things that are routine. When the work is routine, problems tend to really stress you out. Imagine if you are having a bad day, how would it feel if you have another 364 days of the same? It might be time for a chance, and you don't even if to quit your company.

1. Change Your Department
It's time for a change of environment and a new challenge. With a new challenge, and the chance to learn something new, even the training will be rewarding. It might be a job that no one wants, but isn't a dead end job. There have been times when I did what no one wanted to do, and then they wonder why I got a pay raise. I don't mean to imply that it was easy, but sometimes you have to go the extra mile. Always deliver more than they expect doesn't apply only to consumers.

2. Get Involved
Getting involved in the workplace can create new jobs, projects and new friends. The act of doing something constructive gives you a great boost. It motivates you, and get your juices flowing. Maybe you can sign up for a course, or ask to be assigned to a project. Your efforts will be appreciated.

Socially, it helps you to create a network of contacts, inside and outside the company. This can lead to better things in the future. Getting involve will help you find your passion, and it even allows you to help people. The point is there are many options available to you within a company, and rather than complaining about how things are going, get things going!

3. Be Productive
Getting things done always helps you feel good about yourself. You are active rather than reactive. The more you get done, the better you become. Self-development is what happens in the real world, where you find yourself meeting challenges head-on. It gets even better, the more experienced you become, the less problems you have. Your problem solving skills improve to the point where you can prevent problems from happening in the first place.

Focus on getting things done, one job at a time, one day at a time. It all adds up. It's a great feeling to walk into a room and receive applause from your co-workers. Or in giving a speech that fires them up ready for the next project. It's time to get your head in the game.

When You Work For A Company

Working For A Living

At some point in our life, most of us have ended up working for someone or some company. There is nothing inherently wrong with working for a company. In many cases, the company is providing a needed service to the consumers. But most of us dream of the day we are free to pursue what we want in life. Or to own our own business. It's just that you don't get anywhere without starting from somewhere.

The biggest issue we have with working for a living is that we are trading time for money. As long as you collect a paycheck, your time belongs to the company and sometimes this includes weekends. When you trade time for money you end up missing a lot of things in life. Things like family celebrations or your kids growing up. In my case, I've missed years of family celebrations and holidays while building a career.

If you like your job or the company you are with, by all means stay with them. I have had the opportunity to work for and work with people I respect. I had also worked with a company that took care of our own, even when the times were tough. You learn a lot during tough times, like really pulling together and commit to making the business a success. You can achieve amazing results when everyone within an organization have a common goal. Having been through tough times, you are ready for just about any challenges in life.

If you work for a company, give it your all. And this applies to whatever it is that you do. Even when you intend to quit your job in the future, while you are there, commit to doing the best job you can. Not just for your company, but also for yourself. You see, you are building equity for yourself while you are working for someone else. You gain experience, money, skills, self-discipline and even a reputation. Believe me, people will know you by your reputation and the work you have done. Integrity and work ethics count for a lot.

I have been in various managerial positions through out my career, and there are no substitutes for personal leadership and commitment. A manager is a coach, a cheer-leader, a team leader. He is also the force that drives the business, the person who executes the business plan. I like to tell the people I work with, if you are here just for the paycheck, you will not get anywhere in your career. To get ahead in life, you have to grow. You are here for more than a paycheck, you are here to learn a business, and what it takes to make the business profitable. You are here to increase your skills, knowledge, and to gain experience. Not just work experience, but also life experience.

If you can do this, you will find opportunities presenting themselves to you. If you are here for just a paycheck, you won't last long because your mind and heart are closed. I believe that when you work for a company, you ride for the brand. If you are willingly to go that extra mile, you will achieve the success you want.

How do you determine what you want in Life?

Most people do not know what they want in life until it is too late. It is sad to see people spending the best years of their life in the daily grind and wonder if this was all life had to offer. It does not have to be this way at all.

What do you really want in life? People without a definite goal in life will achieve limited success. If you are undecided about what you want out of life, do not worry. There are many ways of discovering your goal in life.

To discover what you want in life, spend a weekend and imagine the kind of life you want for yourself. Take a quiet moment to determine what you seek to achieve in life. It could be anything, a successful career, to travel the world, to be the world’s greatest parent or just wanting to live a life to help others.

It is important to visualize what you want in life. This gives you a point of reference, and will guide you through life’s many forked roads. Live your life as you envision it. Be prepared to take the journey, and make the necessary changes in your life. It does not have to be a major change. Just a simple step to get you started.

Oftentimes, people are driven by logic. People live by what they think they should be or by what society want them to conform to. Determining what you want in life is a process of self discovery. The goal is to discover the authentic person that you are.

Sometimes it is as simple discovering your passions in life. A person motivated to accomplish his life goal finds strength and perseverance when faced with challenges. When you have determined your goal in life, difficulties will not prevent you from reaching your goals. It can even provide additional motivation to overcome these obstacles. Determination tends to lend a positive attitude towards achieving success. You will discover that success is sometimes only a day away.

A positive attitude will overcome friends and critics who seek to discourage you from reaching your dreams. Before you listen to them, take a moment to see what they have achieved in their life. Are they where you want to be? A positive attitude will stand you in good stead when your well-meaning, but perhaps misguided friends seek to deter you. Good judgment and discipline will lead you to your goal in life.

Listen to your authentic self. Remember, your life is what you determine for yourself. It does not mean that you will not listen to what other people say. Hear them out, even learn from them. But it is your actions that will determine your success. Every person, to live truly and greatly, must define how he wants to live and what his goal in life is. It comes down to you as an individual to ask what you want in life.

Avoid Taking the Easy Way

Whether you are working towards your goal in life, focusing on personal development or career success – the key is to get motivated and stay focused. To attain a high level of excellence in everything you do, you must make a commitment to avoid taking the easy way out.

There is satisfaction in a job well done, in knowing that you have done an outstanding job. Gain recognition among your peers as the go-to person in making any project a success. You do not get excellent results unless you are committed and motivated.

If you study any successful person, you will find that commitment and motivation plays a large part in their success. They are committed to achieve the successful outcome they envisioned, and they remain motivated even if they encounter obstacles. It is the willingness to persevere, and the conviction that they will achieve their desired outcome, if they stay the course.

In our fast food, instant gratification society, we have forgotten the satisfaction of working towards our goals. We have overlooked the building up of self-control, patience and skills. Somewhere along the line, we have decided to sacrifice quality for speed. When you focus on instant gratification, and stop caring about how well you do your job, the results will not matter.

There is nothing detrimental about using automation or getting on the fast track, so long as you maintain the same standard of quality. It might seem strange that we often experience a greater sense of achievement when the task seems the more difficult. The rewards you get when you know that you have succeeded regardless of the odds are indescribable. It builds you up as a person, and you gain the confidence to take on even tougher challenges.

Personal development is a process, not a destination. As you start to achieve some measure of success, your self-confidence increases. You develop the ability and mindset to overcome any obstacles and challenges. You will no longer be intimidated by fear or uncertainty, least of all, the prospect of hard-work and perseverance in your life. Personal development can have a profound impact in your life.

Life is an Opportunity

Life is an opportunity. The opportunity for you to build a dream, and a future you can invest in. To garner success and wealth if this is what you desire. The key to success is to be ready to seize the opportunity when it presents itself. Maybe this opportunity will have you start at the lowest rung of the ladder to your success. It is for you to recognize the opportunity and develop the discipline to climb it.

Many years ago, a man saw the potential in me that I did not even know I possessed. He offered me the opportunity to work with him, and though I made mistakes in my early days, I developed the skills to run a million dollar company. When the way is opened for you, you must embrace it and appreciated the person who gave you the chance. In time, other opportunities will present themselves, and you take the next stage of the journey.

The opportunities that come along will demand you learn new disciplines and skills to grow. With new knowledge and experience comes self-confidence. Sometimes when you are starting out on a new career path, you do not realize how big the opportunity can be. The people you interact with, everyone is a potential friend and colleague. Some might even become a mentor, and you might find a friend for life.

Even though you will meet with many challenges in the beginning, do not give up. Even though, you might not like it where you are, or like what you are doing. Remember that the way to success is based on long-term commitment. There are no short cuts! It takes discipline and a positive altitude to climb the ladder of success. It takes perseverance and a willingness to go the extra mile. One thing I have learnt is that you can always do more than what is expected of you.

The commitment is your willingness to do what other people are not willingly to do. It is your willingness to absorb the lessons in life and develop the expertise required. It is doing what the opportunity in life is asking of you. Opportunity is the chance for you to demonstrate your ability, and to qualify you for a life of success and wealth.
